Two Organizations. One Shared Commitment.
The ACMG Foundation for Genetic and Genomic Medicine (ACMGF) and the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ACMG) are two distinct organizations with closely aligned missions. Together, they help advance the field of medical genetics and genomics and support the professionals who provide genetic and genomic care.
The American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ACMG) was established in 1991 as a 501(c)(6) professional membership organization. ACMG is the professional home for the interdisciplinary clinical and laboratory genetics and genomics community. The College advances the profession through education, advocacy, networking, and dissemination of information.
The ACMG Foundation for Genetic and Genomic Medicine was established in 1992 as an independent 501(c)(3) charitable organization. The Foundation supports charitable, scientific, and educational activities that advance the mission and purpose of ACMG and promote the future of medical genetics and genomics.
How the Foundation Supports the College
The Foundation provides philanthropic support for initiatives that strengthen the genetics and genomics profession and help prepare the next generation of genetic and genomic medicine professionals.
Through fundraising, fellowships and training awards, educational initiatives, and corporate partnerships, the Foundation helps make possible programs and opportunities that complement the College’s professional and educational mission.
For example, the Foundation supports:

- Professional development and education through grants and educational initiatives.
- Community engagement through programs such as the Day of Caring.
- Innovation and advancement in genetics and genomics through philanthropic support.
