Since 2011, the ACMG Foundation’s Day of Caring has coincided with the ACMG Annual Meeting, and each year the Foundation works with local nonprofits to provide specially adapted bicycles to local children living with genetic conditions. The bicycles are generously provided by Revvity (formerly PerkinElmer) to make this heartwarming event possible. ACMG Foundation Past President Dr. Nancy J. Mendelsohn, MD, FACMG, stated that “the annual Day of Caring is the highlight of the ACMG Annual Clinical Genetics Meeting for the Foundation and our ACMG members. Each year at this time, we pause to celebrate the patient communities we serve and give a small token of appreciation to children with genetic conditions. It is a great privilege to partner with our donors and the families we serve.”
In 2026, the ACMG Foundation presented specially adapted bicycles and helmets to Baltimore-area children receiving care at the Kennedy Krieger Institute, which is internationally recognized for its work improving the lives of children, adolescents, and adults with neurological, rehabilitative, or developmental needs.
