The human genome, and the knowledge that will be derived from its sequencing, will improve the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease for the benefit of humankind. Vast resources of time, expertise and funds have been invested not only in researching the science, but also the complex ethical, legal and social implications of this major step forward in our understanding of human health. The challenge remains, and it is a significant one, to translate this enormous body of information into safe and effective tests and treatments. The rapid acquisition of data correlating genes and disease requires a substantial and focused effort for the development of standards and guidelines for clinical use.
The Foundation’s corporate sponsorship program is created in part in recognition of the significant interests and mutual goals of academically based genetic services providers and those providing similar services in the private sector.
The American College of Medical Genetics is the only professional organization representing doctoral level physicians and scientists who are board certified in providing all types of genetics services. We have developed the field and delivered the services for nearly 50 years. As both diagnostic and therapeutic treatments and technologies develop in response to demand for genetics services, we uniquely understand the complexity of the science and how it relates to the development of appropriate practice and guidelines.
Its Foundation exists to fund educational activities related to medical genetics services.
The American College of Medical Genetics Foundation has established the Partners in Science program as a way for industry to participate in this profession and to become recognized as leaders in support and funding of the Foundation’s various educational programs. Support, through your participation in our corporate sponsorship programs, makes a critical difference in our continued success. Below you will find information about our Partners in Science program and its benefits. acknowledged and recognized as one of our valued "partners in science."
Pharmaceutical companies, companies that manufacture reagents and devices for use in genetic testing laboratories, companies that develop new genetic technologies, information management in genetics and others whose products and/or services are relevant to the field may all apply for participation with the Foundation through the Partners in Science program.
The Partners in Science program is the formal corporate sponsorship program of the ACMGF.
