Davis, MD, immediate Past President of American Medical Association (AMA), and keynote speaker at the 2008 ACMG Presidential Symposium, died November 6, 2008 following a 10-month battle with pancreatic cancer. After receiving the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer in February 2008, Dr. Davis, a lifelong public and preventive health champion, helped raise public awareness of the disease, which affects 37,000 individuals in the US annually.

Victor A. McKusick died on July 22, 2008 at the age of 86. He was a University Professor of Medical Genetics at Johns Hopkins University, where he had spent his entire medical career. He was a legend in human genetics, respected and revered as the ‘Father of Genetic Medicine,’ and a master clinician, scientist, medical historian, writer, teacher and mentor.
